Best known for her work on rival station TV3's Ireland AM, the polished brunette replaced Sile Seoige on the couch - with RTE pledging more surprise guest presenters to come. Seoige in turn had stepped into the shoes of beleaguered host Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh for the start of the series. Fake Parmigiani An RTE spokesman said: 'Maura will be on the show as a guest presenter for the remainder of the week. The guest presenters will be decided on a week-to-week basis, so I'm not in a position to confirm who will be appearing next week.' Familiar faces who have previ-ously appeared on the show include No Frontiers host Kathryn Thomas, former Off the Rails presenter Pamela Flood and Trevor Keegan. For Derrane, the guest slot is an Afternoon delight. Last seen in the TG4 series Feirm Factor, the presenter has made no secret of her desire to get back to the smallscreen, saying last year: 'I really missed the buzz of TV. I didn't realise that until I got back into it, so I'd love to have a few shows a year to keep me going. That would be perfect.' Embroiled in controversy over its last season - when the rift between Ni Chofaigh and co-host Sheana Keane over bullying allegations was revealed - the show kicked off this year with Sheana back in action, alongside Sile Seoige. Announced initially as the temporary fill-in for Ni Chofaigh, the former Seoige Show host was tipped to remain on the couch for the season, when Blathnaid confirmed last month that Jimmy Choo Handags Replica she would not be returning. In a statement released via the RTE press office, the fiery presenter cited health problems - a twisted bowel - as her reason for quitting the long-running show. She said: 'It's with regret that I'm not returning to The Afternoon Show. I was there for five seasons and it was a great show to work on. 'But my medical advice is very clear - a two-hour live show every day is too much.' And hot on the heels of Blathnaid's announcement, RTE confirmed that Sile's place on the show was a temporary one. Commenting yesterday, the spokesman explained: 'Sile kindly stepped in at the start of the series to cover for Blathnaid who was on sick leave. 'Now that it is clear that Blathnaid is not in a position to return, we're instigating longer-term plans. 'We want to thank Sile for her hard work and professionalism.
