A beer with a refreshing finis

AFTER several weeks devoted to bottled beers in this column, it is time to return to a draught beer, and a particular favourite at that.                                                  replica clothing                      We have said many times before that great beer is as much about a sense of place as about the beer itself.                               For example, friends of Beerio were taking part in a running race known as the Grizzly a year or two ago.                               This remarkable annual event starts and finishes at Seaton in East Devon, and involves a run of around 20 miles, taking in windswept clifftops, strengthsapping shingle and even a dark, mysterious bog in which many a runner has lost a shoe.                                            On this particular day the runners had toiled through almost the entire course and had arrived at the foot of the huge replica rolex climb out of Branscombe Mouth.                               There remained only a couple of miles of clifftop, the descent into Beer, the climb back out again and the final crunch along the Seaton shingle to the finish line.                               But the climb to the clifftop is a big one, and the runners -- these were not the types to be anywhere near the front of the field - - were practically dead beat.                               Their hands on their knees, they could only stare upwards at the ordeal ahead.                               Enter an apparition in the form of two gentlemen holding out plastic cups of ale, and not just any ale at that.                               It was Branoc -- a delicious creation of the nearby Branscombe Vale brewery -- and while it is unlikely that the governing body of British athletics
embroidered patches would sanction its use as racing refreshment, it did the trick for the tired and muddy plodders at the back of the pack.                               Suitably fortified, they bounded to the top of the hill and finished the race in fine fettle.                               For the technically minded, Branoc is a 3.8 per cent brew with a full flavour and a refreshing finish.                               For those who simply like a good beer with friends, with or without a giant hill to climb, you won't go far wrong if you order a pint of Branoc.                               BEERIO
